What is the dark web? How to access it and what you'll get

The dark web of the Internet is the hidden part of online which ordinary people do not know anything about; today we are going to tell you about the dark web. We are speaking about the hidden web which is a part of the internet where we never go. Today you will know what the dark web is and how does it work and what happens here.

It is also called Darknet, it is a part of the World Wide Web of the Internet, but it is not a small part, 96% of the Internet is Dark Web but still, not everyone knows about it and one reason behind it is also that we cannot reach there directly through the browser. All the websites and contents are encrypted, i.e. hidden, and cannot be accessed by search engines like Google.

Types of Dark World

  1. Surface Web
  2. Deep Web
  3. Dark Web

Now let's understand these three stages of the web how it works.

Surface Web

Generally, the part of the Internet that we use in daily life is called the Surface Web. All the websites that we access through search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, all fall in this part. You will be surprised to know that only 4% of the entire internet is the surface web that we use in our daily routine.

Such web pages that anyone can access publicly are in this region of the same Internet. To open these sites no special software or configuration is required nor is any permission required. We can easily access it through Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera.

Deep Web

Web pages on the internet that are not indexed by search engines, i.e. they are out of reach of the search engine and we have to log in to access it. These pages cannot be viewed without permission.

Just like you cannot read emails without logging into your Gmail account, without creating an account you cannot see your friend's profile page on Facebook. All these web pages are inside the deep web. You can view their content, but for that, you need to have an ID and password.

Dark Web

We cannot reach it from a simple browser. Neither can we reach there through Google; we cannot arrive at this area through any common search engine. The IPs of websites in the secret web is encrypted through the encryption tool, that is why they are not seen by the search engines.

A specific type of browser called Tor browser is used to access these hidden sites. These sites can be located only by people who know about it. It is the favorite place of criminals and hackers were all kinds of illegal transactions, drug smuggling, pornography, arms sale, human trafficking, and selling stolen credit card details are committed.

Difference between: Deep Web & Dark Web

Deep web relates to anything on the internet that is not indexed by a search engine like Google. Deep web content carries anything behind a requires sign-in credentials. It also holds any content that its owners have blocked web crawlers from indexing.

Pharmaceutical records, fee content, association websites, and classified corporate web pages are just a few examples of what goes up the deep web. Estimations place the size of the deep web at between 96% and 99% of the internet. Only a small part of the internet is available through a standard web browser.

Dark Web Tools and Services

The Web of Value report recognized 12 kinds of tools or services that could present a risk in the form of a network data compromise:

  • Attacks, including malware, shared denial of service (DDoS), and botnets
  • Path, carrying remote access Trojans (RATs), keyloggers, and exploits
  • Espionage, contain services, customization, and targeting
  • Support services mentioned as the seminar
  • Credentials
  • Phishing
  • Refunds
  • Customer data
  • Operational data
  • Financial data
  • Intellectual property/trade secrets
  • Other emerging threats
The report also described three risk variables for each kind:
  • Decreasing the enterprise, which could hold threatening brand trust, reputational harm, or losing ground to a competitor
  • Disordering the enterprise, which could include DDoS strikes that affect business operations
  • Cheating the enterprise, which could add IP espionage that reduces a company's ability to causes a direct financial loss

These groups promote their own complicated malware, sometimes mixed with pre-existing tools, and administer them through "affiliates".

The affiliates appropriate the ransomware packages through the dark web. These attacks often involve stealing victims' data and threatening to publish it on the dark web if the ransom isn't paid.

Dark Web Browers

This concept of a bustling marketplace makes you think that operating the dark web is simple. The place is as untidy and confused as you would expect when everyone is anonymous, and a large opposition is out to scam others.

Locating the dark web needs the use of an anonymizing browser called Tor. The Tor browser routes your web page requests within a series of proxy servers performed by thousands of volunteers throughout the globe, rendering your IP address unidentifiable and untraceable. Tor works like magic, but the result is an experience that’s like the dark web itself: changeable, unstable, and maddeningly slow.

Dark Websites

Dark web sites seem pretty serious like any other site, but there are major differences. One is the naming structure. Rather of ending in .com or .co, dark web sites end in .onion. That’s “a particular-use top-level domain suffix indicating an anonymous hidden service reachable via the Tor network,” according to Wikipedia. Browsers with a suitable proxy can reach these sites, but others can’t.

Dark web sites also use a scrambled naming structure that generates URLs that are often impossible to get. Several dark websites are set up by scammers, who continually move around to avoid the wrath of their victims. Even commerce sites that may have existed for a year if the owners decide to cash in and leave with the escrow money they’re carrying on behalf of customers.

Dark Web Search Engines

Dark web search engines exist, but also the best are challenged to cache with the continually changing landscape. The occurrence is implicative of searching the web in the late 1990s. Even one of the best search engines, called Grams, returns results that are repetitious and usually unrelated to the query. Link files like the Hidden Wiki are different options, but even symbols also turn a frustrating amount of timed-out connections and 404 errors.

Is the Dark Web illegal?

We don’t need to move you with the opinion that everything on the dark web is illegal. The Tor network worked as an anonymous communications channel, and it yet serves a valuable mission in helping people communicate in environments that are unfriendly to free speech. Many people try it in countries where internet access is criminalized.

If you require to learn all about privacy protection, the dark web has plenty to offer. More and more reliable web companies are starting to have presences there, It shows that they’re conscious, they’re cutting edge and in the know.”

There’s also plenty of possible value for some organizations. Law implementation agencies keep attention to the ground on the dark web looking for stolen data from recent security breaches that might influence a trail to the perpetrators. Many mainstream media organizations monitor whistleblower sites seeming for news.
